Go Live

Go Live is where you start, monitor and stop your livestreaming sessions.

Workflow

All streams associated with a streaming pipeline are eligible to be livestreamed.

All livestreams are started and stopped from Go Live, and only by an admin user who has the corresponding 'Streaming' privilege.

Once a stream has started in Go Live, the corresponding stream URL and Key will be presented, which are then used to configure the streaming device, such as a camera.

START Stream

Pressing this button will start your livestreaming session. There are a few things to take into consideration when starting your stream:

  • Pipeline:
    • Pipelines should always be started first in VisionStream.
    • When your video feed has been acquired, it will appear in the Go Live stream viewer.
    • You MUST Raise Curtain on order to go live with your stream, and to start producing an HLS recording.

STOP Stream

Pressing this button will stop your livestreaming session.

  • Pipeline:
    • Pipeline will stop producing video immediately.
    • Metric data, including analytics, attendance, and throughput, begin calculating.
    • You CANNOT restart a stream once it has been stopped.
    • Your performance is essentially over and cannot be restarted.
    • You can, however, RESET a stream, which will essentially clear a stream of most metric data., excluding usage data.

Pipeline Details

Once a stream has started, the admin user can press the Pipeline Details button to see and overview of the pipeline.

  • Pipeline Name
  • Pipeline type (Pro or Cam)
  • Pipeline class (Single or Standard)

The log will produce messages which allow you to monitor what is happening during a livestream session.

In most cases, you will simply receive Start and Stop log messages.

However, depending on your configuration and pipeline type, you may also receive additional messages, including:

  • Recording start
  • Recording stop
  • Failover to channel 1, or 2
  • Stream health / degradation / recovery

Raise Curtain

Use the Raise Curtain switch to:

  • Make the stream live by enabling viewing for all attendees.
  • Setting the Raise Curtain switch to Off will disable viewing for all attendees.
